Car Accident

Yesterday I got in an accident. Yes, while pregnant! It was the scariest thing of my life. I was driving about 35, minding my own business, when a lady who didn't look both ways pulled out of a parking lot and I nailed her. Luckily I had time to slam on my break and slow down ( a little bit) otherwise the airbag would have come out.

There were many horrific thoughts that went through my head after the hit took place (which was her fault BTW). I was so scared for my baby. Plus hello! I am pregnant...my hormones are already everywhere...so of course I thought the worst.

When the police showed up they made me get in my back seat so they could put my car in neutral. They didn't want the airbag to all of the sudden fly in my face. The ambulance came, they checked my vitals and I decided to have John drive me to the hospital instead of them. ( I was in the car alone when this happened) Luckily we were right by a hospital so into the ER I went to get checked.

They checked my vitals again and did an ultrasound. By this time I was much more settled down, just wanted to make sure the baby was okay. At least I got an "unexpected" ultrasound. Baby was fine, I on the other hand, have been sore for days. It seems to be getting better, but man the impact from a car accident can sure make you hurt.

Things could have been much worse...so I am feeling blessed that they weren't! Accidents are a scary things...so people...LOOK BOTH WAYS BEFORE PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC :)

Thanks!

P.S.- Tonight we find out if BABY is a boy or a girl :)))))

14 Weeks!

So I decided to start the weekly baby survey. Feeling blessed to have made it another week.
LIFE.IS.WONDERFUL

Momma's got a bump!! (or maybe it's just food)

How far along? 14w5d (to be exact) :)

Total weight gain/loss: Down 3 pounds from pre-pregnancy weight.

Maternity clothes? I bought some cute maxi dresses for summer and a cute pair of  maternity capri's this week. I guess I am dreaming about having a belly...hopefully it will come soon :)

Stretch marks? No

Sleep:  Sleep has been okay...I have leg cramps and my hips hurt pretty bad at night. My body is starting to stretch. My pregnancy pillow has made all the difference though. I don't know how I would get any sleep without this thing.

Best moment this week: I did not throw up once!!! This is such an accomplishment!

Have you told family and friends: We sure have! and they get to find out if it's a boy or girl the end of this week!

Miss Anything? I miss sleeping on my belly and my back.

Movement: Not yet, but hopefully in the next couple of week..I am not sure how early that comes :)

Food cravings:  Wendy's Fries and a chocolate frosty, fruit, and sunflower seeds (must be the salt)

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Just when I don't eat when baby is hungry.

Have you started to show yet: Um...some days I think I am, but it usually only comes after I eat, so my guess is it's food. I have had growing pains though.

Gender prediction:  Dr. gave us an idea at our last appt. We will be finding out on May 30th!! I had a dream the other night that we went in to find out and the Dr. said it's a...and I don't remember what was said ha ha

Labor Signs: No
Belly button in or out?  In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time: Very happy, but can get moody when I am tired.

Looking forward to: Finding out if we are having a boy or girl on May 30th and going shopping for the little bean!! Also, our mini vacation with my family coming up.

Not loving: Leg cramps and hip pain...can't complain though! Baby is growing and that makes me happy :)

John Turns 25!!!

This weekend we celebrated John's 25th birthday. Actually, since his birthday falls on Memorial Weekend, we usually celebrate it all weekend long. Birthdays usually aren't a one day ordeal in the Huston household.

Here is how we have celebrated...

~Friday~
John and I went to Massage Envy and got some great massages. John got a tension massage, and myself a prenatal massage. I think I need to go back more often...especially now that I have been experiencing lovely leg cramps!

After our lovely massages we got a little something to eat and headed over to the DownEast Home tent sale and got our shop on. We walked out of there with a brand new Pottery Barn swivel chair for Baby Huston for only $150! Um...online this thing is listed at $1000! I'd say we got a deal, what do you think?! We also found some adorable armless chairs for our bedroom. I can only fit on in there right now, but hope that we can sell our house soon, so I can hopefully have a bigger master bedroom. We were VERY happy with our purchases, and decided to call it a night early. Those massages make you pretty tired :)

~Saturday~
Now since this was John's actual birthday it was all about him today :) He got to decide where we would go and what we would do. ( so don't be too surprised when you see the stops we made) First we drove to Lehi...yes people, 65 miles away from our house to eat at a little place called Buffalo wild Wings. There is only one in Utah right now, so it was a must to drive this far. John ate at this place ALL.THE.TIME while on his mission in Baltimore and we have gone a couple of times when we have visited Las Vegas. We met up with my parents there since they only live about ten minutes from Lehi. We enjoyed great company and some great wings!

After lunch it was time to get our shop on again!! We both love to shop...which can sometimes cause a big problem :) First, we went over to Cabella's because all John wanted and has wanted for a while is a gun...to protect the family he says :) Then we went to Ikea, Buy Buy Baby, USA baby, and decided to head home because we were exhausted! (can you tell baby is already taking over :)) We came home, I took a "short" nap and then we headed to Outback Steak House to meet up with the Huston's for John's birthday dinner and then back to our house for cake and ice cream.

Carol doesn't like pics...so here is what Josh got :)

~Monday~
Since Monday is Memorial Day, we will either be having a big BBQ or going fishing...not completely sure yet :) And then it's back to work (only for four days for me though and then I get SUMMER BREAK)

Hope you all have had a safe and fun Memorial Day Weekend!

Kelli's Baby Shower

My friend Kelli is going to be having a BABY BOY in just under a month! It's crazy how all of our lives are changing...and we are all growing up :) We always knew these days would come, but the pregnancy hormones coming out in me wishes that we could be back playing night games until 2:00am. I am so grateful for my friends in my life...and I know even though all of our lives will bring changes that we will always continue to be friends. I recently found out that Kelli and her husband Lars will be moving to Ohio the end of August for Lars to attend Ohio State University. When Kelli told me this over the phone I just about burst into tears, but tried my hardest to hold them back. I am sooo happy for them and this wonderful opportunity, but I will miss my friend. I seem a little selfish, but can't she just stay?? TOTALLY KIDDING...I really am excited for them, but I will deeply miss her and told her that anytime she is home, we will be getting together and doing a lot of fun things! Plus I told her she has to catch up on her blog and we have to talk at least once a week :) That is the only way I will let her go :)

Anyway...back to the baby boy. We threw him and Kelli a baby shower on May 18th and it was such a success. Us gals always do a little ( actually a lot) more food than we should, and no one eats a lot because they are always too busy chatting and catching up, which we love, so the food ends up going home with all of us. (i'm totally fine with that)

We decided to do a baseball theme for the shower because Lars is a huge baseball fan and well...I am sure their little boy will be the same. Amy found the cute idea online, and I had my lovely husband John recreate a lot of the stuff. (THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, Husband for all you do)

Here are some pics!!

and some more pics...I was on picture taking over load!

Alysia is expecting twin boys in July, and Kelli a little boy in June :)

Amber's little girl :) Could not get enough of her!

13 Weeks!

Hello Second Trimester!!! It feels so good to say that...for many reasons, but mostly because I NEVER thought I would get here :) The first trimester was rough, not the entire time, but from about six- nine weeks I couldn't keep a single thing down because of the nausea. Most people (and websites) say that your energy and nausea should subside by 12 weeks, but I am going to be one of the "lucky one's" that gets to keep it around just a little bit longer :)

For week 13 I have felt good for the most part, but I still feel pretty nauseous and the energy isn't really all there yet, but I am hangin' in there. It is most definitely not as intense as a couple of weeks ago.

I honest can't say I have been craving anything in particular. Food sometimes still doesn't seem good, but if I had to say I am craving something it would probably have to be Mexican Food. I am also loving fruit...especially oranges and peaches.

I haven't put on much weight. At my last appointment (12w6d) I hadn't even gained a whole pound from my pre-pregnancy weight, but I am sure that will change in the next couple of weeks. Some days I have a little belly (if you can call it that ha ha) and some days I don't. I really can't wait until I start showing :)
(Picture to come soon)

John and I are extremely excited to find out what we are having on May 30th! That's only ten days away and I can hardly stand it. Let's hope Baby Huston will cooperate with us :) which I most certainly think it will. I am ready to start shopping and getting things ready for this baby to come. I am excited to have the whole summer off work to get things done.

Everyday I feel so blessed! Last night John and I went and saw "What to Expect When You're Expecting". It was a great show with lots of humor, but also lots of tears. There is part in the movie where one of the girls experiences a miscarriage. Both John and I were crying because it brought back a lot of feelings. Even if you haven't experienced one of those yourself, you could understand the emotion involved in it. (don't tell John and I said he cried) When I walked out of that theater, I felt so grateful that I am still carrying this healthy baby. Miscarriages are really tough. There are things I learned from going through that experience that I will never forget. Sometimes we don't really understand why we have to go through these sorts of hardships and trials, but once you make it through it, I feel that things will be greater appreciated. That was really hard for me to understand, but I knew the day would come when I would be able to stand on my two feet again and be able to experience the blessings that our Heavenly Father has promised us.

Here's to another great week!!!

Boy or Girl...

Today we had an appointment and Ultrasound

Baby Huston is doing great!

Dr. Bierer gave us his prediction if Baby Huston is a BOY OR GIRL...he wasn't 100% sure, but said he would bet it's a...

We get to go back in two weeks to find out!

So...what do you think we are having? A BOY OR A GIRL?

Happy Mother's Day

I can't believe I am going to be a {Mama}

I've got myself a small bump...whether is food or baby, I can't tell :) But I'll take it. I get a little emotional thinking about the fact that I get to celebrate today and all it's glory. I can't believe I am in my 12th week! That means my first trimester is coming to an end! It has actually gone by fast when I think about it, even though most times waiting to go to my ultrasound felt like FOREVER!

Today was such a great day! My mama is out of town (in Disney World, and I am so envious right now) So we didn't get to see her today, but we celebrated it with her last week with dinner, visiting, and gift giving. Today was spent with my dear Mother-in-Law,Carol. John and I are so lucky to have great moms in our life. If I can be half the mothers they are, then I will be a great mom :)

Thanks mom and Carol for your love and support, and most importantly your examples to me. I look up to the both of you so much and can't wait for you two to love and kiss on our little baby.

Our baby will have the best grandmas :)

Back to the Doctors for another ultrasound on Tuesday!

11 Weeks

Not much to report on this week...Just glad I can say I made in another week! I got this little baby in the mail today.

It's a fetal doppler...and I get to hear Baby Huston's heartbeat whenever I want. John's first reaction when I told him I was buy it was, "how much is that going to coat?" A lot you might think, but only $60! Only $60 to help keep me sane for the next 29weeks :)

I'd say it's worth it!

At first it was a little tricky to find...but once I heard the heartbeat the first time, I recognize it every time. Baby Huston's heartbeat is averaging about 157.

PURE.BLISS

This week I have started to feel a lot better. Still sick if I don't have something in my tummy at all times, but if I make sure I am eating every two hours, then the nausea stays away. I am still waking up during the night to eat saltines, but even this is starting to happen less. I have had a bit more energy, but still needing naps every now and then. LIFE.IS.GREAT! I am feeling blessed to have made it to this point.
