17 Weeks

How far along? 17w3d

Total weight gain/loss: I'll find out next Thursday at our next Doctor's appointment. I don't trust the scale at home...so I guess we will see next week!

Maternity clothes? Yes, not solely, but I am pretty much in love with maternity bottoms because I feel the most comfortable in them.

Stretch marks? No, but my skin has been itching like crazy! Does that mean I am going to get stretch marks?! BRING ON THE LOTION!

Sleep:  Some nights good and some nights bad

Best moment this week: I got to celebrate my 24th birthday on Saturday and my adorable husband bought me the Petunia Pickle Bottom Diaper bag I have been oodling over for months. He knew I was too cheap to go buy it myself, so he surprised me with it for my birthday. Love you babe :)

Have you told family and friends: Yes, Grandma and Grandpa Ashcroft have been buying our baby boy lots of things! Our families are pretty dang excited!!

Miss Anything? No :) Happy to be pregnant!

Movement:No...I have thought a couple of times maybe, but really I have no clue. I know it's my first baby, but the anticipation is about to kill me...and make my cry all at the same time.

Food cravings:  No food cravings this week, in fact I have had a bit of an upset stomach all week long.

Anything making you queasy or sick: The heat is still making me sick and we are supposed to hit 100 this weekend...I might be going to pool to keep cool. Also, this morning I got out of bed and had a vomiting episode ( haven't had to deal with that for about three weeks.) I think it was my thyroid medication...for some reason my stomach was not too happy.

Have you started to show yet: yes...but I think some people think I am just bloated. Once I tell them I am pregnant, they think I am only 3 months or so. Must be because baby boy is hanging out in my back.

Gender prediction:  It's a BOY!

Labor Signs: No

Belly button in or out? in, but some days it completely closes off...not that pretty!

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy :) but just a little bit more emotional and hormonal some days.

Looking forward to:Our next appointment on June 28th. We haven't seen little boy in four weeks! And our little family trip to St. George :)

Not loving: Round- Ligament pains in the middle of the night. Sometimes if I turn the wrong way, too quickly, the pain is unbearable, but my baby is growing and that makes me happy! I am still getting leg cramps, but they have sudsided a bit.

P.S.- I bought some cute fabric will out shopping with my momma. I am going to make baby boy some cute burp cloths...hopefully they turn out :)

16 Weeks

How far along? 16w5d

Total weight gain/loss: I really have no idea...I usually go off what the Doctor's office says because there scale is a lot more reliable than mine. If I had to guess I would say I have put on a few pounds because I haven't really been sick and I feel like I am eating all day long to keep the nausea away.

Maternity clothes? I found some cute maternity bottoms at Gordman's. I am wearing them now even though I can still fit in my normal pants. I don't like anything tight on my tummy, so it really helps to wear these instead.

Stretch marks? No

Sleep:  I have been sleeping pretty good this week. I do toss and turn a lot, but it's been nice to sleep in since I don't have work :)

Best moment this week: Starting our shopping for baby boys nursery. (see prior post for all my ideas)

Have you told family and friends: Yes

Miss Anything? I am actually getting used to sleeping on my sides, so I am not really missing mush this week.

Movement: Not yet! Baby boy, Mommy's birthday is on Saturday, so if you want to give me a little bit of movement that day, that would be great :)

Food cravings:  Still love spicy foods and loving Cookies and Cream Ice Cream.

Anything making you queasy or sick: The Heat...and we haven't even made it to August.

Have you started to show yet: I have, but I still don't think people realize I am pregnant. I would rather have people know I am pregnant instead of just looking chunky. Hope my tummy "pops" soon!

Gender prediction:  We're having a baby boy

Labor Signs: No

Belly button in or out?  In, but you should see it! The poor thing looks so ugly and I haven't even begun to get a big belly. Since I have had two Laporoscopy's my belly button looks weird from the stitches anyway. I am sure by the time I reach the end it will be out.

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy :) and I have to just mention that I have only cried three times since being pregnant. I just don't have those crazy emotions like most pregnant woman. I guess I am lucky...even though sometimes I wish I could cry ha ha.

Looking forward to: My last B-day not being a mommy on Saturday. I am also looking forward to feeling baby boy move soon...please happen on my birthday! PRETTY PLEASE :)

Not loving: Well, today I experienced a pain I have never felt before. I have had some minor round-ligament pains, but today they started in my groin. I could not even walk. Luckily after laying down for little bit it went away, but wow, it sure was painful!

Baby Huston's Nursey Theme

I am so excited to start on BABY BOY'S nursery. My mind is spinning with ideas and really...it's all I think about! After looking on Restoration Hardware's website, I found out they have a Restoration Hardware Baby and child website! I about died when I looked at their stuff and decided that Vintage planes would be our theme for the nursery. Here are a few of my ideas...

 (Restoration Hardware)

 (Quilted Bear)

(Hobby Lobby)

  (Restoration Hardware)

                       (Restoration Hardware)

  ( Home Again- Antique Shop)

 (Nursery ideas from ontobaby.com )

 (Amazon)

Luckily I have a VERY talented husband that will be able to make those adorable vintage airplane prints for me. Those things don't come cheap, so thank goodness we will be able to make them for a fraction of the cost. I can't wait to bring baby boy home to his vintage airplane room in November. He's going to love it! I just know it :)

Las Vegas Trip June 2012

Last weekend, John and I went on a mini-vacation to Las Vegas with my parents, brother, and sister-in-law. We had so much fun! We flew in early Saturday morning so we would have all day. We rode in a limo to our hotel (it was only $4 a person to do this, but we felt pretty cool ha ha)

We went to Hard Rock Cafe for lunch and I had my Heavy Metal Hot Wings...I have been craving spicy foods, so you definitely know these touched the spot (wish I could have some right now)

Later that night we headed to VIVA ELVIS. Cory, Jenny, John and I had seats together, while the parentals had V.I.P tickets. Little did they know we were about to be upgraded!! As we were walking down to get in our seats, a man named Bob stopped us and asked us if we wanted to sit closer. We said OF COURSE!! We didn't know closer would be front row, right in the middle!!! It was the best show ever...probably the best show I have seen in Vegas! It made our night...and our entire vacation :)

Sunday consisted of going to a lovely Sunday Brunch and stuffing our faces with all it's deliciousness and than we headed out to the pool for some much needed relaxation. John and I brought out our Ipad's, listened to some music, and had to literally jump in the water every five minutes because it was so hot!

(Please don't judge my white body. It's kind of hard to get tan when you're pregnant, and that bump, well that's mostly food from the delicious buffet)

After swimming we headed down the strip for some shopping and than it was back to our room for a nap. I was exhausted from the 106 degree weather, walking my little butt off, and being pregnant! This mama needed to rest.

Sunday night we went to dinner at a lovely restaurant called Serio. It's an Italian Restaurant, that is super fancy. So fancy they don't just fill your glass with normal water, they fill it with Fiji water. One of my dad's vendors was celebrating his birthday in Vegas and decided to celebrate his birthday, he would take us all out to dinner. Thanks Bart!!

and here is the belly after I had ate a ton of food!! Weird how it grows after that :)

Monday we packed, walked around some more, and caught our flight back home. It was a great weekend. I love spending time with my family. It doesn't happen very often, so when it does we take full advantage. Next year...DISNEYLAND!!! (they just don't know it yet)

Baby Huston is a...

On Wednesday, May 30th, we found out that we would be welcoming a baby BOY into our little family.

Dr. Beirer made a prediction that our little baby was a BOY at our 12 week appointment, so we were very excited to finally know for sure.

We are so excited to have a baby BOY!  and I will most definitely be out numbered with John, Charlie, and baby BOY.

We were so excited to let our parents know what we were having. This is John's parents first grandchild and my parents 17th grandchild. We decided to head to dinner at Olive Garden and give them a little gift to tell them. Each of our parents got a recordable book from Hallmark. The book we gave them was "Love You Forever." If you haven't read this book, I must warn you, it will make you cry. We decided to a do a recordable book so when baby BOY is at his grandparents, he will be able to hear our voices. They also got a cute little shirt that said "BOYS Rule".

They couldn't have been more excited and we know this little guy will get more love then he'll ever need.

We love you baby BOY and can't wait to meet you in November!

Car Accident

Yesterday I got in an accident. Yes, while pregnant! It was the scariest thing of my life. I was driving about 35, minding my own business, when a lady who didn't look both ways pulled out of a parking lot and I nailed her. Luckily I had time to slam on my break and slow down ( a little bit) otherwise the airbag would have come out.

There were many horrific thoughts that went through my head after the hit took place (which was her fault BTW). I was so scared for my baby. Plus hello! I am pregnant...my hormones are already everywhere...so of course I thought the worst.

When the police showed up they made me get in my back seat so they could put my car in neutral. They didn't want the airbag to all of the sudden fly in my face. The ambulance came, they checked my vitals and I decided to have John drive me to the hospital instead of them. ( I was in the car alone when this happened) Luckily we were right by a hospital so into the ER I went to get checked.

They checked my vitals again and did an ultrasound. By this time I was much more settled down, just wanted to make sure the baby was okay. At least I got an "unexpected" ultrasound. Baby was fine, I on the other hand, have been sore for days. It seems to be getting better, but man the impact from a car accident can sure make you hurt.

Things could have been much worse...so I am feeling blessed that they weren't! Accidents are a scary things...so people...LOOK BOTH WAYS BEFORE PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC :)

Thanks!

Love, Randi and Baby

P.S.- Tonight we find out if BABY is a boy or a girl :)))))

Stretch marks? No

Sleep:  Sleep has been okay...I have leg cramps and my hips hurt pretty bad at night. My body is starting to stretch. My pregnancy pillow has made all the difference though. I don't know how I would get any sleep without this thing.

Best moment this week: I did not throw up once!!! This is such an accomplishment!

Have you told family and friends: We sure have! and they get to find out if it's a boy or girl the end of this week!

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Just when I don't eat when baby is hungry.

Have you started to show yet: Um...some days I think I am, but it usually only comes after I eat, so my guess is it's food. I have had growing pains though.

Gender prediction:  Dr. gave us an idea at our last appt. We will be finding out on May 30th!! I had a dream the other night that we went in to find out and the Dr. said it's a...and I don't remember what was said ha ha

John Turns 25!!!

This weekend we celebrated John's 25th birthday. Actually, since his birthday falls on Memorial Weekend, we usually celebrate it all weekend long. Birthdays usually aren't a one day ordeal in the Huston household.

Here is how we have celebrated...

~Friday~
John and I went to Massage Envy and got some great massages. John got a tension massage, and myself a prenatal massage. I think I need to go back more often...especially now that I have been experiencing lovely leg cramps!

After our lovely massages we got a little something to eat and headed over to the DownEast Home tent sale and got our shop on. We walked out of there with a brand new Pottery Barn swivel chair for Baby Huston for only $150! Um...online this thing is listed at $1000! I'd say we got a deal, what do you think?! We also found some adorable armless chairs for our bedroom. I can only fit on in there right now, but hope that we can sell our house soon, so I can hopefully have a bigger master bedroom. We were VERY happy with our purchases, and decided to call it a night early. Those massages make you pretty tired :)

~Saturday~
Now since this was John's actual birthday it was all about him today :) He got to decide where we would go and what we would do. ( so don't be too surprised when you see the stops we made) First we drove to Lehi...yes people, 65 miles away from our house to eat at a little place called Buffalo wild Wings. There is only one in Utah right now, so it was a must to drive this far. John ate at this place ALL.THE.TIME while on his mission in Baltimore and we have gone a couple of times when we have visited Las Vegas. We met up with my parents there since they only live about ten minutes from Lehi. We enjoyed great company and some great wings!

After lunch it was time to get our shop on again!! We both love to shop...which can sometimes cause a big problem :) First, we went over to Cabella's because all John wanted and has wanted for a while is a gun...to protect the family he says :) Then we went to Ikea, Buy Buy Baby, USA baby, and decided to head home because we were exhausted! (can you tell baby is already taking over :)) We came home, I took a "short" nap and then we headed to Outback Steak House to meet up with the Huston's for John's birthday dinner and then back to our house for cake and ice cream.

Carol doesn't like pics...so here is what Josh got :)

~Monday~
Since Monday is Memorial Day, we will either be having a big BBQ or going fishing...not completely sure yet :) And then it's back to work (only for four days for me though and then I get SUMMER BREAK)

Hope you all have had a safe and fun Memorial Day Weekend!

Kelli's Baby Shower

My friend Kelli is going to be having a BABY BOY in just under a month! It's crazy how all of our lives are changing...and we are all growing up :) We always knew these days would come, but the pregnancy hormones coming out in me wishes that we could be back playing night games until 2:00am. I am so grateful for my friends in my life...and I know even though all of our lives will bring changes that we will always continue to be friends. I recently found out that Kelli and her husband Lars will be moving to Ohio the end of August for Lars to attend Ohio State University. When Kelli told me this over the phone I just about burst into tears, but tried my hardest to hold them back. I am sooo happy for them and this wonderful opportunity, but I will miss my friend. I seem a little selfish, but can't she just stay?? TOTALLY KIDDING...I really am excited for them, but I will deeply miss her and told her that anytime she is home, we will be getting together and doing a lot of fun things! Plus I told her she has to catch up on her blog and we have to talk at least once a week :) That is the only way I will let her go :)

Anyway...back to the baby boy. We threw him and Kelli a baby shower on May 18th and it was such a success. Us gals always do a little ( actually a lot) more food than we should, and no one eats a lot because they are always too busy chatting and catching up, which we love, so the food ends up going home with all of us. (i'm totally fine with that)

We decided to do a baseball theme for the shower because Lars is a huge baseball fan and well...I am sure their little boy will be the same. Amy found the cute idea online, and I had my lovely husband John recreate a lot of the stuff. (THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, Husband for all you do)

Here are some pics!!

and some more pics...I was on picture taking over load!

Alysia is expecting twin boys in July, and Kelli a little boy in June :)

Amber's little girl :) Could not get enough of her!

13 Weeks!

Hello Second Trimester!!! It feels so good to say that...for many reasons, but mostly because I NEVER thought I would get here :) The first trimester was rough, not the entire time, but from about six- nine weeks I couldn't keep a single thing down because of the nausea. Most people (and websites) say that your energy and nausea should subside by 12 weeks, but I am going to be one of the "lucky one's" that gets to keep it around just a little bit longer :)

For week 13 I have felt good for the most part, but I still feel pretty nauseous and the energy isn't really all there yet, but I am hangin' in there. It is most definitely not as intense as a couple of weeks ago.

I honest can't say I have been craving anything in particular. Food sometimes still doesn't seem good, but if I had to say I am craving something it would probably have to be Mexican Food. I am also loving fruit...especially oranges and peaches.

I haven't put on much weight. At my last appointment (12w6d) I hadn't even gained a whole pound from my pre-pregnancy weight, but I am sure that will change in the next couple of weeks. Some days I have a little belly (if you can call it that ha ha) and some days I don't. I really can't wait until I start showing :)
(Picture to come soon)

John and I are extremely excited to find out what we are having on May 30th! That's only ten days away and I can hardly stand it. Let's hope Baby Huston will cooperate with us :) which I most certainly think it will. I am ready to start shopping and getting things ready for this baby to come. I am excited to have the whole summer off work to get things done.

Everyday I feel so blessed! Last night John and I went and saw "What to Expect When You're Expecting". It was a great show with lots of humor, but also lots of tears. There is part in the movie where one of the girls experiences a miscarriage. Both John and I were crying because it brought back a lot of feelings. Even if you haven't experienced one of those yourself, you could understand the emotion involved in it. (don't tell John and I said he cried) When I walked out of that theater, I felt so grateful that I am still carrying this healthy baby. Miscarriages are really tough. There are things I learned from going through that experience that I will never forget. Sometimes we don't really understand why we have to go through these sorts of hardships and trials, but once you make it through it, I feel that things will be greater appreciated. That was really hard for me to understand, but I knew the day would come when I would be able to stand on my two feet again and be able to experience the blessings that our Heavenly Father has promised us.

Here's to another great week!!!

Boy or Girl...

Today we had an appointment and Ultrasound

Baby Huston is doing great!

Dr. Bierer gave us his prediction if Baby Huston is a BOY OR GIRL...he wasn't 100% sure, but said he would bet it's a...

We get to go back in two weeks to find out!

So...what do you think we are having? A BOY OR A GIRL?
